Hilda Kibet

Hilda was born in Kenya (in 1981) and lived there until the age of 20. She came to The Netherlands in 2001 and studied physiotherapy (B.Sc). However, she only worked as a physiotherapist for a few months, since soon after her graduation in 2004 she had her break-through as an athlete. Hilda represented The Netherlands at the Olympic Games of 2008 and 2012. At the European Cross-country championships of 2008 she won the gold medal and at the European Athletics Championships of 2010 she won a bronze medal in the 10.000 meters. Her personal bests are 30.51 (10.000 m), 31.01 (10k on the road), 1.07.59 (half marathon) and 2.24.27 (marathon). When their first daughter was born in 2015, Hilda stopped running competitively. Hilda loves to spend time with her family, plant trees (since 2012 she planted over 15.000 trees) and be busy with her foundation Kibet4Kids.

Hugo van den Broek

Hugo (1976) studied Human Movement Sciences (M.Sc.) and Pedagogy/Special Education (M.Sc). Immediately after his graduation, he left for Kenya to train. During his stay he met Hilda Kibet. He worked as a social ability trainer for young criminals and in reintegrating sick employees back to work. Hugo started running at the age of 15 and became the Dutch junior champion 10.000m in 1995. Between 2002 and 2014 he was a (semi-)professional runner, specialized in the marathon. He represented The Netherlands at the European Championships of 2006 and 2010. In 2014 he qualified again for the EC, but due to an injury he was not able to start. His best performances are: 28.51 (10k on the road), 1.03.26 (half marathon) and 2.12.08 (marathon). Hugo works as the head coach of the Elite Distance Running Programme in India (also known as the National Athletics Academy) and as the head coach of the Kenya Experience. See http://www.traininkenya.com. Besides that he coaches a few elite and amateur runners online.
